POSITION:             CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION TEACHER

                               BUSINESS & MARKETING TEACHER 1.0 FTE

SCHEDULE:             2021-2022 School Year

 

SALARY:                  Based on the 2020-2021 Teacher Salary Schedule

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

*Washington State Career & Technical Education Certification in the subject area (or ability to attain); or 6,000 hours of documented applicable work experience in the content field

*Valid Washington State Career & Technical Education Teaching Certificate with applicable endorsement

*Willingness to recruit & facilitate an active Program Advisory Committee

*Ability to participate in required trainings

*Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary planning, curriculum design and evaluation

*Willingness to work with an instructional coach

*Valid First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain one

DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)

* Teaching techniques which reflect interactive student-centered, project driven instruction

  and incorporate communicative activities and authentic assessment.

*Demonstrated ability to teach all students.

* Ability to maintain program equipment, lab area, and facilities.

*Successful experience working with advisory committee; attending meetings and participation in committee activities and events.

*Demonstrated success supervising the student leadership organization.

*Evidence of high standards in classroom management and student achievement.

*Knowledgeable and willing to integrate appropriate technology into the instructional

  process.

*Willingness to work with the business community to support student learning in the work

  place; set up shadow and internship opportunities.

*Knowledge of and ability to design curriculum to meet adopted State standards and

  competencies, district benchmarks, and the Washington State essential academic learning

  requirements and grade level expectations.

*Punctual and consistent attendance.

 Job Description: The successful candidate will be expected to:

*Provide an effective program of instruction in Business & Marketing meeting district and state approved program standards (frameworks).

*Teach computer applications following the state approved frameworks.

* Be willing to supervise and implement a CTSO following the state approved guidelines which may sometimes involve (after school, nights, or weekends) as needed.

*Be actively involved in advisory committee activities; attend all meetings and activities (after school, evenings).

*Organize and maintain a safe lab environment while teaching and promoting safety.

*Maintain a positive attitude and productive learning environment.

* Review program needs and participate in the selection of equipment and instructional resources and materials.

*Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan in alignment with state CTE

  standards.

*Develop and monitor program budget; manage and submit purchases for the program.

*Integrate technology into the instructional process; stay up-to-date with technology

  related to the program area.

*Become involved with business and community partnerships; participate in internships and other industry related educational and training opportunities.

*Be a "team" player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships

  with others.

*Communicate regularly and proactively with students and parents regarding progress and

  behavior.

*Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education.

*Be committed to success for all children.

*Believe cultural diversity is a strength and have the attitude that we will meet the needs of

  all students.

*Be flexible and cooperative in schedule changes and accommodating in other needs for use

  of facility.

*Other duties as assigned.
