POSITION: CTE Construction Trades and Shops Para Educator
EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately
SALARY: $20.64- $22.70 per hour
AA Degree - $.50 per hour extra/
BA Degree $.75 per hour extra
SCHEDULE: 7 hours per day Monday through Friday
180 day – work year
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
*High School Diploma or equivalent
*Must meet one or more of the following:
-Associates degree or higher;
-Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher; and/or
-Have passed the Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment
*Must complete annual required training hours Para Certificate hours
*Knowledge and experience of equipment/tools used in high school courses including woods/automotive/metals shops/agriculture/foods
*Ability to participate in required training
*Ability to perform record-keeping, inventory, and maintenance of materials and equipment
*Ability to develop rapport with students, teachers, parents, and other staff
*Ability to manage groups of students
*Willingness to pick up supplies as needed
*Ability to work independently, follow supervisory directions, and employee personal initiative when necessary
*Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons *Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness
*Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
*Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative working relationships *Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
*Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
*Demonstrate and model above-average language skills
*Adequate health and physical stamina to withstand the transitions between shops *Experience with middle school and high school students
*Valid First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain one
QUALIFICATIONS:
DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)
*Experience using power tools and equipment for a variety of shop settings
*Previous successful classroom experience at the middle or high school level
*Willingness to do office tasks
*Willingness to study materials provided by supervisory personnel and/or take college classes to improve basic instructional skills
*First Aid Card
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Supervise and direct group and individual activities under teacher guidance
*Support students in working on equipment to complete class projects and construction site tasks
*Support students on the job site, working to complete daily tasks/assignments
*Support contractors on site
*Assists with completion of daily reports, record keeping, and maintenance of inventories
*Assists in the operation and maintenance of equipment
*Assists with managing and maintenance of facilities
*Assists with purchasing and receiving materials for class projects
*Assists with special projects that support CTE efforts and promote CTE classes
