POSITION: Secondary Assistant Principal/Athletic Director
Sageview High School
SCHEDULE: 2025- 2026 School Year (218-Day Contract)
SALARY: Refer to the Principal's Salary Schedule
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
*Valid Washington State administrative credential
*Valid Washington Teaching Certificate with applicable endorsements
*Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
*Demonstrated ability to appropriately manage personnel, programs and schedules
*Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and work effectively with diverse elements within the school & community
*Five years of successful experience as a teacher and/or educational administrator
*Outstanding written & verbal communication skills
*Knowledge or experience with athletics
*Knowledge of supervision and performance appraisal of staff
*Knowledge of current curriculum, assessment and instructional practices to improve student achievement
*Knowledge and experience in improving student achievement based on state & national learning standards, school improvement plan and adequate yearly progress.
*Knowledge and experience in working with diverse populations, including English language learners and highly capable students
*Strong administrative skills, including supervision, budgeting, planning, organization and goal setting
*Demonstrated ability to use computer technologies to enhance instructional, classroom and school management
*Skills to appropriately manage personnel & programs, communicate effectively and problem solve
*Demonstrated rapport with the community
*Ability to keep and maintain accurate records
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)
*Bilingual/Biliterate in English/Spanish
*Previous Administrative experience
TEMPORARY DUTIES
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Principal/Athletic Director (AP/AD) to join our team. While the official start date for the 2025-2026 school year is July 2025, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in key planning activities from December 2024 to July 2025. This early involvement will ensure a smooth transition and successful integration into our school’s operations.
**Primary responsibility will be to participate in professional development sessions related to the opening of Sageview High School, as able.
*In collaboration with the Sageview Planning Principal:
- A.P./A.D. would identify the athletic programs and coaching staff needed (advertise, hire and conduct interviews).
- Determine athletic equipment requirements for each sport, ordering/delivery timelines, storage, summer schedules and facilities planning/preparation.
-Budget planning & allocate budget for coaching staff, athletic equipment, and facilities.
-Work towards planning and supporting team leadership and community engagement efforts. Support the start-up of Booster Club to support athletic programs.
-Be responsible for establishing a clear and compelling vision for the athletic department that aligns with both building and district goals, fostering a positive school culture.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
*Works with the school Principal to oversee all aspects of the building athletic programs. Reports to the building Principal.
*Ability to evaluate assigned staff performance; certificated and coaches.
*Organizes and administers the overall athletic program, both intramural and interscholastic. This applies to state athletic events that may be hosted by the Pasco School District.
*Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
*Promote academic excellence and sportsmanship in cooperation with WIAA.
*Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all athletic events.
*Hires personnel, officials, arrange medical and security coverage as required.
*Assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home contests.
*Assumes primary responsibility for cheer, dance, and related activities.
*Coordinates awards banquets, special events, as related to athletics.
*Arranges provision for meals, housing and transportation for athletes and coaches for all post-season contests.
*Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic events.
*Facilitates communication between athletic department personnel, parents, teachers, students, building administrators for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
*Monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
*Maintains accurate records as required by Title IX.
*Supervises all ticket sales and fundraising events of the athletic program and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds.
*Arranges use of playing fields and facilities.
*Arranges field and gym practice schedules.
*Represents the school building at athletic meetings and events, as requested by supervisor.
*Attends meetings, in services and trainings for the purpose of maintaining skills and receiving information on new and improved procedures, as well as current rules and regulations.
*Performs other related duties as assigned

*Provides strong instructional leadership to facilitate opportunities for all students to meet or exceed academic standards
*Participates as a positive member of the building and district’s leadership team
*Manages school administrative functions as assigned to maintain safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines
*Supervises instructional personnel, monitors student performance, provides for professional growth and achieves the overall objectives of the district instructional program
*Facilitates communication between staff, students, and/or parents to evaluate situations, solve problems and/or resolve conflicts
*Develops and maintains effective relationships with parents, community and students
*Recommends staff placement to the Human Resources department for action
*Evaluates personnel to achieve standards, maximize performance and maintain safety
*Processes student disciplinary actions, personnel actions and/or related matters for the purpose of documenting such actions and adhering to district policies and/or educational code
*Recommends policies, procedures and actions (e.g. personnel, equipment, and disciplinary issues) to provide district personnel with direction and/or data for decision making
*Supervises student activities outside of the school day
*Performs other related duties as assigned
