POSITION:            Bilingual Special Services Specialized Program Structured Learning Paraeducator -

                              Robert Frost Elementary 

 

EFF. DATE:           Immediately

 

SALARY:               $21.67 - $23.74 per hour

                             AA Degree - $.50 per hour extra/

                             BA Degree - $.75 per hour extra

                            

 

SCHEDULE:          6.75 hours per day, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday

                            5.5 hours per day, Wednesday

                            4 hours on early release days as follows: the day before

                            Thanksgiving, the day before Winter Break, and the last

                            day of school

                            180 day – work year

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

*High School Diploma or equivalent

*Must meet one or more of the following:

-Associates degree or higher;

-Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher; and/or

-Have passed the Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment.

*Bilingual/Biliterate Spanish/English

*Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness

*Must complete annual required training hours for Para Certificate hours

*Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons

*Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record

*Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality

*Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative, working relationships

*Must follow supervisory directions and employ personal initiative when necessary

*Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures    

*CPI trained or willingness to be trained

*Willingness to work with special education students on the autism spectrum (ASD)

*Ability to communicate with students using adaptive communication devices or willingness to learn

*Basic knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder

*Knowledge of ABA strategies and/or willingness to learn and be trained

*Experience collecting data or willingness to be trained

*Willingness to do playground duties and/or office tasks

*Ability to assist with toileting needs, diapering, lifting, tube feeding, catheterization, and other forms of assistance

 

DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)

*College or on-the-job training experience as a paraeducator

*Willingness to do office tasks

*Willingness to study materials provided by supervisory personnel and/or take college classes to improve basic instructional skills

*Knowledge of elementary subject matter

*Experience working with special needs students

*First aid card preferred

 

DUTIES:

*Working with special needs students; Must be willing to assist with needs related to working with special needs students such as diapering, tube feeding, toileting catheters, lifting, etc.
