TEMPORARY POSITIONS FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

 

 

POSITION:                    SUBSTITUTE SECURITY SPECIALIST

                                      Various Buildings

 

EFFECTIVE DATE:         2024/2025 School Year

 

SALARY:                       $23.48

                                    

 

SCHEDULE:                   On Call as needed (Temporary)

                                                                                

                                       

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

*High School Diploma or equivalent

*Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new computer programs as needed

*Previous successful experience interacting with teenagers

*Ability to work flexible hours

*Ability to operate camera equipment for badges

*Ability to operate and program cameras for campus monitoring inside and outside

*Ability to work well with students in grades 6 - 12

*Good communication skills and ability to maintain accurate records

*Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students and patrons

*Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness

*Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures

*Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative working relationships

*Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record

*Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality

*Ability to follow supervisory directions and employ personal initiative when necessary

*Willingness/ability to do clerical/office tasks

*Valid Washington State Driver’s License and complete 5 year driving abstract (available from Department of Licensing)

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)

*Experience/training in security procedures and search and seizure laws

*Interest/training/experience in counseling

*Bilingual/Biliterate English/Spanish

 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

 

*Assist administrators in maintaining campus security including cafeteria, hallways and parking lots

*Operate camera and computer equipment required to take student photos and produce ID badges and maintain appropriate records for same

*Maintain inventory of supplies for badging process

*Supervise students in time out room and after-school detention as required

*Monitor cameras during high activity periods

*Supervise and maintain order in and about school property including restrooms, parking lots, hallways, and areas on and near campus where students congregate

*Maintain visibility and be immediately available for assisting staff and students in routine and emergency situations

*Assist in disciplinary actions as requested and/or required

*Investigate all reported law violations and complete written incident reports as may be appropriate

*Confront intruders and report all observed violations (trespassers, truants, and law violators) to appropriate administrator

*Work cooperatively with other security officers and the Pasco Police Student Resource Officer in maintaining a safe, orderly environment for all

*Conduct student mediations and interventions, as needed

*Assist in supervising and maintaining order at after-school activities, dances, and athletic events as assigned

*Model appropriate and healthy adult behavior toward students, staff, and parents

*Nurture and give attention to students with special needs

*Work effectively within a context with multicultural and at-risk students

*Support the building’s extra-curricular program

*Perform all other related duties as may be appropriately assigned
