POSITION: SUBSTITUTE BUS ATTENDANT PARAEDUCATORS
EFFECTIVE DATE: 2024 - 2025 School Year
SALARY: $19.87 per hour
SCHEDULE: Various Hours
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
*High School Diploma or equivalent
*Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with behaviorally disabled children
*Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative working relationships
*Must follow supervisory directions and employ personal initiative when necessary
*Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
*Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
*Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
*Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness
*Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons
*Interest in working with disabled children
*Adequate health and physical strength to assist students by lifting, etc.
*Provide assistance to students to maintain appropriate behavior on the bus
*Valid first aid card with CPR, infant and child
*Ability to assist with management of children with special health problems, e.g. seizures, breathing, etc.
*Must be able to repeatedly lift 50 lbs.
*De-escalation strategies
*Willingness to attend training as required
*Assists drivers with reports
QUALIFICATIONS:
DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)
*Bilingual English/Spanish, highly desired
*Prior successful instruction experience and/or training working with disabled children
DUTIES:
*The bus attendant provides assistance for disabled students on the bus and will assist the bus driver during the bus route.
