SALARY: Based on the 2021 - 2022 Teacher Salary Schedule
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
*Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with applicable endorsement
*Experience creating, planning, facilitating, and presenting professional development
*Bilingual/Biliterate in English/Spanish
*Bilingual Education or English Language Learner endorsement required
*Possesses a minimum of 3 years successful classroom teaching experience
*Willingness to demonstrate and model lessons in the classroom
*Demonstrates an understanding of the ELP Standards
*Exhibits knowledge and use of research based instructional practices and materials regarding ELs
*Possesses knowledge of content and vertical alignment
*Demonstrates the ability to differentiate instruction for a diverse student population and build equitable learning environments
*Demonstrates ability to successfully collaborate with staff
*Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality, build trust and establish relationships
*Must be willing to provide training outside the student school day
*Demonstrates excellent communication skills
*Successful demonstration of facilitation of PLC meetings
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required but would be useful to the position)
*Master’s Degree in related field
*Demonstrated successful experience working with adult learners and a working understanding of adult learning theory
*Successful experience working within a coaching framework
*Previous successful classroom teaching experience at the secondary level
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The building level Bilingual Facilitator shall provide positive, collaborative leadership and support 9-12 staff for improvement of student learning. The Bilingual Facilitator(s) will prioritize support for new teachers and build capacity for effective instructional practices across contents. The primary responsibility of the Bilingual Facilitator is a consistent focus on supporting teachers to deepen their understanding of: content knowledge; maximum implementation of district adopted instructional materials; research-based ELD (English Language Development) instructional strategies; how to use a variety of assessment/data to monitor student achievement; bilingual placement, district, state, and national standards. The Bilingual Facilitator will work closely with their building principal, teachers, support staff, and district.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop, coordinate, facilitate and implement professional development in regards to best practices for ELD students.
- Provide job-embedded on-going professional development to all staff
- Promote a knowledge base of effective strategies and interventions
- Participate in the creation and revision of content area curricular guides to address the needs of English Language Learners
- Participate in additional trainings in July and August - dates to be determined
- Assist teachers by co-planning, demonstrating, modeling, and/or co-teaching
- Facilitate discussions and activities with teachers regarding their understanding of the curricular guides in PSD’s instructional materials
- Participate on building level teams
- Participate in district level initiatives
- Reinforce building’s school improvement plan
- Advocate and use current tools and resources to further reform efforts and build standards based learning environments
- Participate in state, ESD and district level meetings as appropriate
- Build collegial/professional relationships with coach colleagues, teachers, support staff, parents, counselors, and administrators
- Work with PLCs to examine student work and plan instruction
- Analyze, use and interpret data to guide teacher instruction and assist in school wide planning for all English language learners
- Promote culturally responsive teaching
- Use technology to further English langauge learners student achievement
- Other related duties as assigned
