TEMPORARY POSITIONS FOR SUMMER PROGRAMS ONLY

POSITION:                Signer/Interpreter For The Deaf - TEMPORARY

                                  Multiple positions

                                  Booth Building

EFFECTIVE DATE:      Summer 2021 Program

SALARY:                    $20.28 per hour

SCHEDULE:               Elementary: 8:00a.m. - 1:00p.m.

                                 Mondays through Thursdays, July 8th-9th & July 12th -29th 

                                 Middle School: 8:00a.m. - 12:00 noon

                                 Tuesdays through Fridays, June 22nd - July 9th 

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

*High School Diploma or equivalent

*Proficient sign language skills in a variety of systems

*Must be proficient in ASL

*Evidence of successful ability to work with the deaf/hearing impaired

*Demonstrated ability to carry out prescribed instructional management program

*Patience and warmth in working with students

*Ability to assume role of educational assistant and role of interpreter

*Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness

*Ability to work effectively with professionals in a school setting

*Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality

*Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record

*Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative, working relationships

*Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons

*Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)

*Successful experience interpreting for hearing impaired students in a school setting

*Bilingual/Biliterate English/Spanish

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Working with hearing impaired students
