POSITION:               EMPLOYEE SERVICES PAYROLL TECHNICIAN

                                 Booth Building 

EFFECTIVE DATE:    Immediately

 

SALARY:                  $25.94 - $28.59 per hour

                                AA Degree - $.50 per hour extra/

                                BA Degree $.75 per hour extra

 

SCHEDULE:             8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

                               260 day - work year

 

                                                                                                                       

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Grade ‘B’ or better on the administered Clerical Employment Test
  • Keyboarding accuracy at 50 wpm on district-administered test
  • Demonstrated ability and accuracy on standard office equipment, including the ability to operate a 10-key number pad by touch
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and rate priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and enter data with exceptional accuracy; data processing experience in MS Office Programs
  • Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
  • Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons
  • Ability to work overtime periodically and attend necessary out-of-town trainings as required
  • Ability to accurately process heavy volumes of documentation under extreme time pressures, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Ability to multitask, solve problems, attend to detail, and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
  • Accuracy in computer skills, developing spreadsheets, and use of computer software programs such as Excel, Word,d and or other applications.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required but would be useful to the position)

  • Experience in school or governmental accounting
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, both State and Federal
  • Knowledge and experience with large entities (such as the Washington school district) payroll or human resource information systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with SunGard® K-12 software
  • Knowledge of and experience with Absence Management (formerly Aesop®) software
  • Knowledge of and experience with TimeClock Plus® software
  • Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness

 Essential Duties:

  • Assist Sub Dispatcher with Payroll and other various duties 
  • Assist with enrollment into the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) 
  • Point of contact for staff Retirement questions 
  • Assist with Employment Verification 
  • Responsible for tax shelter annuity enrollment and questions
  • Filter payroll questions and concerns from staff members
