OPEN ONLY TO CURRENT HEALTH AND FITNESS TEACHERS AT THE FOLLOWING PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS: MAYA ANGELOU ELEMENTARY, EMERSON ELEMENTARY, LONGFELLOW ELEMENARY, MARKHAM ELEMENTARY, MCCLINTOCK ELEMENTARY, ROBINSON ELEMENTARY, THREE RIVERS ELEMENTARY

POSITION:       Program Coordinator: Let’s Go Bicycle Education Program  .2 FTE, 2 Positions

 

EFFECTIVE DATE:    Immediately through 2024 - 2025 School Year

 

SCHEDULE:     Monday through Friday

                       180-day work year

 

SALARY:               Based on the 2024 - 2025 Teacher Salary Schedule

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

  • Valid WA State Teaching Certificate

  • Current Health and Fitness Teacher at a school participating in the Let’s Go Bicycle Education Program. 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all program partners. 
  • Collaborative. 
  • Ability to schedule, coordinate, and maintain reports for the program.  
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to move bicycles to and from storage locations and on/off trailer.  
  • Ability to work with Cascade Bicycle Club, local businesses, and volunteers to support the Let’s Go program.  
  • Work in a flexible and cooperative manner.               

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively to implement the Let’s Go Bicycle Education Program in the identified, participating PSD elementary schools. Partnering with the other Program Coordinator as well as the Health and Fitness teachers at participating schools, PSD staff, and Cascade Bicycle Club staff to support program implementation and meet all reporting requirements for the grant.  

 

Instructional/Classroom Support:  

  • Attend professional development provided by Cascade Bicycle Club. 
  • Support teachers in implementing the Let’s Go Bicycle Education Program during PE.  
  • Assist teachers with materials needs or bicycle maintenance issues.  
  • Provide opportunities for participating teachers to meet and collaborate on implementation challenges and tips.  Support ongoing training needs.  

Operations Support:  

  • Arrange for the transport of bike trailers from school to school (work with the district maintenance department—create a work order).  
  • Schedule schools’ program dates and equipment deliveries.  
  • Create, manage, and monitor the delivery and pick-up schedule of the bicycle trailer for participating schools.  
  • Ensure bicycles are brought into the identified shop for repair or maintain internally. 
  • Arrange for trailer maintenance when necessary. 
  • Ensure program quality control.  This may include but is not limited to: materials and equipment inventory management, responding to material requests from teachers, traveling to schools to replenish curriculum materials, such as bike, helmets, bike locks, curriculum signs, and/or posters.  
Technical Support: 
  • Primary contact for all communications with Health and Fitness teachers at participating schools.
  • Tracking spending, budget, and completing quarterly financial reports in close coordination with district supervision and fiscal department.
  • Administer program data collection methods to support data driven decision making with program growth.
  • Complete quarterly written progress reports.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with the Cascade Bicycle Club.
  • Collaborate with school sites to identify volunteers to support PE teachers with the Let’s Go Bicycle Education Program.
  • Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements.
