POSITION:           ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION

 

SCHEDULE:          Year-round (221-Day Administrative Contract)

 

SALARY:              $133,458 - $160,043

                            Based on the 2023 - 2024 Administrative Salary Schedule

 

Position Begins: July 1, 2024

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

 

  • Valid Washington State teacher’s certificate in Career and Technical Education.
  • Valid Washington CTE Director certificate. 
  • Master’s Degree. 
  • Experience in an educational leadership role.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations including Perkins Requirements.
  • Knowledge of CEDARS, CIP Codes and CTE reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting CTE Programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the learning process, curriculum, and program development inlcuding 21st Century Leadership standards, Career and College Readiness initatives and STEM initatives.
  • Knowledge and experience managing CTE requirements including safety, teacher certification, CTSO's, and Work-Based Learning.
  • Ability to develop frameworks and assure alignment to state/national standards.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and program development and evaluation.
  • Ability to facilitate effective program advisory committee meetings.
  • Ability to collaborate with business and industry organizations to support Work-Based Learning.
  • Knowledge of local workforce development and labor market trends.
  • Ability to lead teams to support program improvement.
  • Ability to mentor CTE teachers and provide professional development.
  • Ability to coordinate planning with other program supervisors and directors.
  • Successful experience working collaboratively with staff, administrators and business partners to develop and implement effective CTE programming. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take initiative.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; exceptional professional judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven record of working cooperatively with district administration, staff, and families.  
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as part of district administrative team focusing on the program improvement.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to attend CTE related events and meetings. 

 

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist with coordination and supervision of safe and effective instruction and alignment of curriculum between schools by maintaining on going communication with staff, administrators, community, business, and industry. This includes writing curriculum frameworks and supporting teachers in curriculum development and assessment strategies to include employability skills, career options and student leadership.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with business and industry partners to support career connected learning opportunities including Work Site Learning.
  • Facilitate advisory committee meetings and lead other committees to improve programs.
  • Stay current on OSPI/Perkins requirements to ensure compliance and prepare necessary reports.
  • Manage articulation agreements and identify additional opportunties for dual credit and college in the high school.
  • Support High School and Beyond Planning requirements as they relate to career planning and CTE pathways.
  • Manage CTE pathways and equivalency credits.
  • Provide instructional support for staff including mentoring teachers, planning and facilitiating professional development. 
  • Help recruit potential teacher candidates and particpate in the hiring process for certified and classified staff.  Assist staff in attaining appropriate certification. 
  • Knowledge of CTE budgets and grant writing.
  • Promote CTE courses to students, parents and community members.
