SALARY: $23.27 - $24.34 per hour AA Degree
$24.19 - $25.32 per hour BA Degree
Benefits
SCHEDULE: 6 hours per day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
4 hours per day, Wednesday
180 day – work year
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
*AA degree; BA preferred
*Ability to proficiently read, speak and write both Spanish and English
*Must complete annual required training hours Para Certificate hours
Annual training hours will be held June 17,18, 20 & 21
*Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative working relationships
*Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students and patrons
*Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness
*Must follow supervisory directions and employ personal initiative when necessary
*Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
*Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
*Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
*Responsible for maintenance of accurate program records and working with supervisor to
plan instruction
*Ability to team with ELL and General Education staff in classroom and non-classroom settings
*Ability to work independently with initiative
*Able to work flexible hours and provide meaningful after school activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)
*College or on-the-job training experience as a tutor
*Previous experience in classroom with ELL/ELD instruction
*Record keeping and computer skills
*First Aid Card
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The bilingual tutor is generally responsible for direct and indirect instruction of ELL (English Language Learner) students in small groups as they are assigned by the ELL staff/teacher. The tutor will be responsible for following the schedule as designated by the supervising teacher and/or administrator. The tutor instructs using a variety of instructional methods and teaching strategies. Instruction in reading, writing, and math in small groups will take place in various ELL and bilingual settings. The supervising teacher/administrator will assist the tutor in the planning of lessons, program coordination, and communicating with general education staff. The tutor may be responsible for maintaining program documentation on individual students.
