POSITION:       UPDATED - Teacher of the Deaf, 1.0 FTE Location TBD based on enrollment

 

SCHEDULE:       2023-2024 School Year 

 

SALARY:          Based on the 2023 – 2024 Teacher Salary Schedule

QUALIFICATIONS: 

REQUIRED:(Qualifications which are essential to the position) 

*Possesses or be eligible for Washington State Teaching Certificate 

*Endorsed or eligible to become endorsed in Special Education, Deaf Education Specialty, and/or Deaf Education with ASL Proficiency  

*Must be fluent in oral and written English and ASL 

*Experience or willingness to work with hearing-impaired students 

*Ability to develop and manage a deaf education program 

*Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines 

*Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of an instructional team in a departmental setting 

*Successful experience in teaching deaf/hearing impaired students or successful completion of coursework in deaf education? 

*Successful experience with a co-teaching model or commitment to participate in training 

*Experience or demonstrated knowledge of implementing multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior, and social skills? 

*Demonstrated ability in positive human relations 

*Demonstrated organizational ability, punctuality, and an exceptional work attendance record 

*Willingness to take coursework to increase knowledge and skills in the instructional process 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

DESIRED:(Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position) 

*Master’s Degree in Deaf Education 

*Experience in working with assistive technology 

*Demonstrate a desire to work collaboratively as a team 

*Ability to supervise para-educators and interpreters
