POSITION:                  Electrician

                                    Maintenance Building 210                                                                             

EFFECTIVE DATE:        Immediately

 

SALARY:                      $31.28 - $33.70 per hour 

                                    Benefits

 

SCHEDULE:                  8 hrs per day, Monday through Friday

                                    7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

                                   260 day - work year                                                                         

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

*High School Diploma or equivalent with strong skills in reading, writing and communication and three years of experience as an electrical crafts-person at the journey level                  

*Must meet physical requirements for the position (see working conditions below)

*Knowledge, experience and proven ability in the building trades

*Demonstrate skill in technical aspects of electrical/mechanical installation and maintenance

*Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and make repairs

*Ability to read blueprints

*Must be able to read and follow directions

*Must show evidence of work planning and execution that requires little supervision

*Ability to rate and organize job priorities to meet performance deadlines and to maintain accurate records of time spent on projects

*Ability to Operate all power equipment related to building trades and perform minor repair when necessary

*Knowledge of safe use of chemicals and equipment

*Ability to establish and  maintain effective working relationships with staff

*Must be able to work independently                                                                                

*Knowledge of safety procedures and required to perform work to meet all Washington electrical code requirements

*Valid Washington State driver's license

*Demonstrated good attendance record, be highly motivated and a self-starter

*Must have positive recommendations from previous employers 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

                             ***Specific Duties and responsibilities***

 

 

  1. Must be in good physical condition; requires dexterity and precision; required to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 on a regular basis; required to work on ladders and at heights (including roofs and attics) and to work effectively in tight quarters; required to use ground machinery with moving parts; required to wear protective clothing or devices; exposed to high noise levels; required to work outdoors in inclement weather, exposed to clear and present danger to personal safety when working with high voltage panels.
  2. When called upon, estimates cost and feasibility of repair projects, makes recommendations for phase of supplies and and equipment                                       
  3. Accomplishes duties as described for general maintenance, alterations and construction in the building trades (general mechanical, plumbing, etc.).
  4. Operates all types of power tools and equipment for building trades and grounds, keeps tools and equipment in proper working condition.
  5. Reads plans and blueprints; determines scope of work, materials needed and their cost and availability
  6. Orders materials and maintains an adequate inventory of required materials to carry in shop or for maintenance work.
  7. General building maintenance as assigned.
  8. Replaces fluorescent and HID lighting fixtures; repairs and installs switches and outlets.
  9. Repairs electrical main service and feeders.
  10. Installs and moves control cables.
  11. Plans lighting in facilities; troubleshoots lighting problems and provides solutions.
  12. Receives and prioritizes work orders;responds to emergency problems.
  13. Determines sources for electrical and communication materials and supplies; orders and stores equipment.
  14. Operates motor vehicles to transport materials and supplies to work sites.
  15. Maintains electric motors in heating/exhaust systems.
  16. Replaces burned out motors and installs new motors.
  17. Maintains all electrical related equipment.
  18. Alterations -maintain books and inventory.
  19. Repairs or replaces hot water tank elements and controls.
  20. Repairs or replaces re-circulating pumps.
  21. Replaces oven elements and controls.
  22. Replaces ballast as needed.
  23. Performs preventive maintenance as per program.
  24. Performs support for all other general maintenance activities.
  25. Complies with all safety rules and reulations.
  26. Performs other duties as assigned.
  27. Demonstrates professional conduct and positive communication, through word, deed and without innuendo. Injurious gossip is cause for immediate discipline and is to be avoided.
  28. Positive support of the common purposes, goals, decision and collective judgments of the Board of Directors is an expectation of district employment.
